This Privacy Policy explains how Andy Byrne handles personal information through ambyrne.com, his personal and professional website incorporating Andy’s Smart Life. Andy Byrne is the controller for the personal information described in this notice. You can contact him at andy@ambyrne.com.
Information collected and why
Enquiries: your name, email address, subject and message are used to respond and manage correspondence. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed. General enquiries are handled on the basis of the legitimate interest of communicating with people who contact Andy; requests about professional services may also involve steps you ask for before a contract.
Operation and security: the hosting service and security tools may process IP addresses, request URLs, browser information, timestamps and login or error records to deliver pages, investigate faults and prevent abuse. This serves the legitimate interest of keeping the website reliable and secure.
Optional analytics: Google Analytics is configured through MonsterInsights to understand page visits. Optional analytics scripts are blocked until you consent. Analytics may involve cookie identifiers and device or browsing information; it should not be treated as automatically anonymous. You can refuse optional cookies and still browse the site.
Cookies and external services
Essential cookies support necessary functions, including storing cookie choices and administrator sign-in. See the Cookies Policy. Use Cookie Preferences to change or withdraw consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing.
The site uses Hostinger for hosting, WordPress for publishing, LiteSpeed Cache for performance, Wordfence and Really Simple Security for protection, and WPConsent for preferences. Wordfence’s existing security-network participation may share attack-related information with its provider. Jetpack is retained for its existing security, backup and content features; its duplicate statistics and asset CDN modules are disabled. Third-party requests can disclose your IP address and technical request information.
Contact Form 7 handles enquiries. Google reCAPTCHA is configured for spam protection, but its domain configuration currently needs correction. It is subject to third-party script blocking; when loaded with your permission, Google may process device and interaction information. Social links lead to external services with their own privacy notices.
Recipients and international processing
Andy and providers needed to host, secure and operate the site, deliver enquiries or provide analytics you have accepted may receive information. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary for legal claims. Enquiries are not published as website content.
Some providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Applicable transfer safeguards depend on the provider and service, for example an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards. Provider arrangements and hosting locations will be reviewed before the final domain launch. Browsing the website does not constitute consent to an international transfer.
Retention
Enquiry correspondence is kept for the time needed to respond, complete follow-up and meet applicable record-keeping or legal obligations. Security and technical records are kept according to provider settings and the need to investigate faults or abuse. Cookie preferences last 30 days; other lifetimes appear in the Cookies Policy. Exact mailbox, hosting-log and analytics retention settings still need confirmation before launch.
Your rights and choices
To ask a question about this notice or request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection where applicable, email andy@ambyrne.com. You may also withdraw consent for optional processing. Reasonable information may be requested to verify your identity. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it was withdrawn. You may complain to the Irish Data Protection Commission at https://www.dataprotection.ie/.
You can complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission. You do not have to contact Andy first.
Changes
This notice will be updated when services or data handling change. The date above identifies the latest version. Updating a notice does not replace consent required for a new purpose.
